Briefing on the Human Impact of Losing TPS

Fri, 10/23/2026 - 12:54pm by Dylan Caraballo

This week, Quixote Center attended a Haiti TPS briefing, hosted by Haitian Bridge Alliance, as well as experts from Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and Human Rights First, about the impact of terminating TPS for Haiti.

This briefing gave an in-depth analysis and on-the-ground look at what is going on and what can be done to fix it.

Think about how many lives are forever changed when they receive the notice that they're being deported.

Think about Springfield, Ohio, where a massive Haitian-American community is now being terrorized by ICE. They're being targeted and monitored every single day.

Think about the deportation flights, and how all returnees' due process has gone out the window.

The elimination of TPS is affecting hundreds of thousands of Haitian-Americans in this country right now, and will affect more tomorrow. There are no signs of slowing down; we need to urge our Senators to act now.

Passing S. 4814, would give Haitians Temporary Protected Status through 2029. This is a matter of life and death, and we cannot let this moment in history pass by without acting.
