QC Board Announces staff appointment to serve the Commission of Truth

The Board of Trustees of the Quixote Center, in Brentwood, MD,has just learned that Tom Loudon, a co-director and staff member of the Center, and long-time worker for Human Rights in Latin America, has been appointed Executive Secretary of the newly formed Commission of Truth of the Platform of Human Rights in Honduras. The Commission of Truth will operate as an independent organization and Mr.

Commission of Truth installed today in Honduras

Monday, June 28th one year after the coup d’état, the Commission of Truth will be installed in Honduras. The Commission is an initiative of the human rights community and people of Honduras who are committed to making sure that the truth is told about those responsible for the coup d’état and the torrent of human rights abuses unleashed in its aftermath.

The Human Rights Platform informs the national and international community of the possible violent eviction of the families organized in the Aguan United Farm workers Movement (MUCA) engaged in land occupations in the Aguan Valley. According to reports received about the current state of the negotiations, the designated governmental commission will present a written proposal to the farm workers’ movement today.
