Prayerfully Protest the Bishops’ Anti-Contraception Campaign: DC, July 4th

We’re halfway through the “Fortnight for Freedom,” the Catholic bishops’ campaign opposing access to contraception for employees of Catholic institutions, such as universities and hospitals. Last week, Catholics United organized a prayerful counter-presence during the opening Mass of the bishops’ campaign in Baltimore. The Quixote Center is joining with Catholics United to change the media coverage of the Mass by providing reporters with a compelling alternative Catholic voice.

We need your help in Washington DC on July 4. The bishops have organized a closing Mass for this “Fortnight” in Washington, and the media will once again be invited. Cardinal Wuerl will preside and the most partisan bishop in America, Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia, will give the homily.

Will you help show bishops and the media that there are plenty of lay Catholics and people of faith who don’t want election year politics injected into our houses of worship? Click here to RSVP.

When: July 4, 11:45 a.m.
Where: The sidewalk in front of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (400 Michigan Ave. NE)
Why: Because Catholics don’t want election year politics preached from the pulpit

After the Mass, everyone is invited to a barbecue at the house of James Salt (Executive Director of Catholics United) to celebrate religious liberty in America. At the barbecue we’ll accept donations via WithCharityForAll.org for Catholic organizations working to protect true victims of religious persecution.

Let’s help close out the “Fortnight” with a strong statement that lay Catholics don’t want partisan politics preached from our pulpits.

Will you join us for a prayerful protest and help me celebrate our religious liberty with a barbecue at James’ house? Click here to RSVP!

Sincerely,

Jeremy John and Dolly Pomerleau
