Join us for a report back from and about Chile on Wednesday June 13th, 6:30 PM at St. Stephens!

At the far end of the Americas, in Chile and Mapuche territory, the strongest resurgence of social movements during the “post-dictatorship” era has been taking place, with struggles involving workers, students, and Mapuche peoples working to unite in common defiance against the conservative government and Pinochet’s continuing legacy. The increased use of force on the part of the police and a newly constructed military base financed by the U.S. Southern Command, the first in Chile, are just two signs of how militarism is affecting the region. Chile is one of the countries sending the most soldiers to the School of the Americas/WHINSEC, up to 200 each year. Join us for a time of mutual learning about the most up to date activities of activists in Chile and how our struggles against the U.S. Empire are linked.
